In 1942 Antonio Scalisi, an immigrant from Sicily, followed his dream and started a wholesale produce business in Detroit, MI aimed at excellence in quality and service. His wife, Jacqueline, learned about high standards from working in her family’s restaurant. Armed with their knowledge, pride, and dedication they began their legacy.

Antonio and Jacqueline went on to instill their ambitious work ethic, entrepreneurial spirit, and core values in their sons, Jerry and Joe Scalisi, and their grandsons Tony, Jim, Joey, Jack, and Nick Scalisi.

In 1979 Jerry and Joe Scalisi packed their produce truck and headed to South Florida to start a wholesale produce distribution company. Not surprisingly, they soon became a premier foodservice produce distributor. In 1990 they expanded their business to retail produce opening Jerry & Joe’s Marketplace. There, daily shoppers were quickly able to purchase and enjoy some of the world’s finest produce, deli, and gourmet foods.

Palm Beach County awarded Jerry & Joe’s Marketplace the Reader’s Choice Award for the best place to buy produce. From there, Oceanside Produce began in 1991 and was an organic evolution dedicated to being the best in quality and service in wholesale produce.
